History
The Muslim Engineers’ Network was officially established in 2007. It began at Foster Wheeler Limited where a few engineers created the Foster Wheeler Islamic Society (FWIS). The FWIS then started organising social events for Muslim Engineers’ in Foster Wheeler. After the first dinner, FWIS reached out to Muslim engineers’ in other Oil and Gas companies. As the network of engineers expanded to encompass various disciplines, FWIS was renamed Muslim Engineers’ Network.
Vision
Our Vision is to support Muslim professionals and students in engineering with resources enabling them to have a successful career whilst practicing their faith.
Mission
Our mission is to build a network of successful Muslim professionals and students in engineering by sharing knowledge, mentoring young engineers and promoting engineering as a career.
University Workshops
MEngN are in the process of hosting several workshops at universities to aid Muslim students in securing work after graduating.
A recent example of this was where MEngN, alongside Sheffield University ISOC held a virtual webinar. The event was a resounding success and positive feedback was received from students who attended. Students tuned in while expert Muslim leaders provided inspirational anecdotes and discussed opportunities within their industries. Speakers also had a chance to network and shared future opportunities with the students (PhD studentship opportunities).
We are going to be hosting more virtual workshops in the near future.
Typical content of the webinars include:
We are looking to partner up with universities in the future in a post-COVID world.
In the meantime, watch this space for more virtual webinar events!
Networking Events
Muslim Engineers’ Network Events provides our community access to interesting speakers, social occasions and an immense network. During this challenging period, please join us for our Virtual Webinars every fortnight – we hope to provide you with face to face events later in the year.
Please see the highlights of our previous successful events drawing engineers from many fields and students from various engineering backgrounds.
At the most recent Pre-COVID event, we successfully had over 120 members meeting up in central London and networking.
MEngN is seeking to carry out more networking events in the future and are always looking to do more to bring Muslim Engineers’ together.
